The short version

Trove has no server, no account and no analytics. It does not collect, transmit, sell or share anything. Every file it keeps stays in your browser's own storage on your machine.

What Trove reads

When you are looking at a conversation on claude.ai and you ask Trove to keep a file, it reads two things from that site using the session you are already signed in with:

• The list of files the conversation produced, with each file's size and timestamp
• The contents of the files you chose to keep

It also reads the address of your current tab, and only to work out which conversation you are viewing. No browsing history is read or kept.

What Trove stores, and where

Captured files, the conversation titles they belong to, and any edits or names you give them are written to the extension's own IndexedDB storage, which lives on your computer and is readable only by Trove. Your settings are stored in Chrome's extension settings storage, which Chrome may sync between your own signed-in browsers — that is Chrome's sync, not ours, and it carries preferences only, never file contents.

What Trove sends

Nothing. The only network requests Trove makes are to claude.ai, to fetch the files described above. There is no other host, no telemetry, no crash reporting and no usage measurement.

Files leave your browser only when you explicitly ask: saving a copy, a screenshot, or exporting a conversation writes a file to the location you choose. Edits you make in Trove are saved locally and never sent back to the conversation.

Screenshots

Taking a screenshot asks Chrome for permission to capture the visible tab, the first time only. Trove captures nothing but its own reader page, and the resulting image is either saved where you choose, put on your clipboard, or kept in your local library — whichever you pick.

Deleting your data

Deleting a file or a conversation in Trove removes it from storage immediately, and there is no version history holding a copy behind it. Removing the extension from Chrome deletes everything it kept.

Children

Trove is a developer tool and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this ever changes, the change will appear in this page and in the repository's history, which is public. The date above says when it was last revised.
